structural lining the pipeline should be inspected using a Closed Circuit Television Camera (C.C.T.V.) to ensure that it is clean and ready for lining. The pipeline should free from silt, debris, tree roots, scale and intrusions.

If the pipe is not clean then preparation work should be carried out from existing access points by means of High Pressure Water Jetting, high powered specialist root and scale cutting machinery or by using remotely controlled mechanical cutters (as appropriate).

During this stage all lateral connections present in the pipeline are precisely plotted as that they can be re-opened on completion of the lining.
